DAY 01
Arrival in Paro and transfer to Thimphu:
Day 1 Arrival in Paro and transfer to Thimphu: Once you arrive in Paro, you will be received by our representative and guide who will transfer you to your hotel in Thimphu15. The drive is approximately 55 km/ 2 hours16. Upon arrival, proceed for check-in17. Depending on arrival time, you may proceed for city sightseeing or relax18. You may visit the interesting Weekend Market (Thu-Sun)19. Overnight in Thimphu
DAY 02
Thimphu Sightseeing:
Day 2 Thimphu Sightseeing: In the morning, visit the Handmade Paper Mill and the School of Arts and Crafts (closed on Sundays, government holidays) where students learn 13 different arts20. Visit the nearby Folk Heritage Museum and National Library before lunch21. After lunch, drive past Memorial Chorten built in memory of the 3rd King22. Visit Buddha Viewpoint, Changangkha Lhakhang (oldest temple), the Enclosure where the national animal, Takin, are kept, and Zilukha Nunnery23. Overnight in Thimphu
DAY 03
Thimphu to Paro & Sightseeing:
After breakfast, drive back to Paro24. Visit the National Museum (Ta Dzong), which has a collection from natural history to religious paintings25. Visit the 17th-century Paro Dzong (Fortress) on foot and continue walking through the oldest wooden bridge still in use26. Evening, stroll the old Paro town and explore some local handicrafts stores27. You can also try a local restaurant for dinner28.
DAY 04
Paro Sightseeing: The Tiger's Nest Hike:
Paro Sightseeing: The Tiger's Nest Hike: In the morning, hike to the Tiger's Nest Temple (Paro Taktsang)29. This most revered temple literally hangs on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro valley at 900m above the valley floor30. The temple is associated with Guru Rimpoche, who is believed to have meditated here three months in the 8th century and converted the entire valley into Buddhism31. It is a 2-hour walk uphill for an average hiker32. Evening, return to the hotel and relax33.
DAY 05
Paro - Haa - Paro Excursion:
After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Haa valley34. Visit Chelela Pass, your highest point of the trip at 3988m, from where you can view spectacular views of both Haa valley and Paro valley35. If the weather permits, one can view the most sacred mountain in the country, Mt. Jomolhari (7314m)36. Lunch in the town after returning from Chelela Pass, then relax in the hotel37.
DAY 06
Departure:
Day 6 Departure: Take away the sweet memories of Bhutan38. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight39.
